Welcome to Our Practice

Welcome to Jack R. Holt, DDS!

Dr. Holt practiced general dentistry for over 44 years when he decided 15 years ago to focus solely on the treatment of Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) disorder and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). He has been successfully treating TMJ patients for over 25 years and OSA patients for 8 years.

His interest in treating TMJ disorder (TMD) started when his wife began having serious TMJ issues over thirty years ago. When they were told by an oral surgeon at UCSF that she was in need of joint surgery, they sought for other opinions. She was treated successfully with conservative splint therapy. This began his career path to treating TMJ patients.

He began showing an interest in Obstructive Sleep Apnea after he had a sleep study conducted by the Mayo Clinic and was diagnosed with OSA over twenty five years ago . He has used a CPAP machine ever since and has seen the evolution of better machines, masks, and oral appliances. He requires both CPAP and oral appliance therapy, so he has tried several different appliances through the years. This led him to see the pros and cons of different devices.

He has discovered the very prevalent overlays between TMD and OSA. Many patients have both, which requires a good working knowledge of both specialties (70% of all OSA patients grind their teeth at night (brux) which can cause jaw, joint, and muscle pain).  He feels it is this interrelationship between two specialties and his experience in treating both that helps him provide the best treatment for patients.

Our goal at Jack R. Holt, DDS is to help sleep disorder and TMJ suffers find real solutions to their problems and to improve their overall health and quality of life. Call Jack R. Holt, DDS or request an appointment to schedule an evaluation.
